Unlike the 1990 proof which has reeded rims, the 1986 Libertad has "INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD" inscribed around its rim. All post 1988 Libertads no longer has this inscription.
nice, thanks for posting the pics...just found this coin with my white's detector and looked for info about it This one's an 1988 but exact same with rim inscription too and cleaned up real nice Good find! :)
I like the old design a lot more than the new Libertads. Will post a couple close ups of a 1983 and 1985 in "used" condition which I find has certain "charm and character" which a nice and shiny proof or BU coin lacks.
